This one is for all of us who have walked in a caregivers shoes.
Malama Ola…”Take care of a life.”
The Hawaiians feel that is a special purpose in life. It is a way of healing, not just for the patient but for the caregiver too.
When it’s said in Hawaiian, it’s done with feeling and warmth, like just about everything else here. Most of all it’s said with respect because each life is a cherished gift. And to take care of a life is looked upon as an honor.
So many of us in this community have had that honor. One we will always remember.
