Hi Cindi,Thanks so much for your kind comments.Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have a blog that I post anenuncemnots. I also have a page on facebook Jan Hopkins Alternative Materials I have most of my current work posted in the photos.
I pray for your family and that you all will vecorer. I had almost lost my sister a year ago in a horrific accident when she fell 20 feet from a tree and her 9 year old life has been changed. I understand and I am praying for a quick vecorery for Ava. God does things in our life that do not make sense sometimes. But He has a plan for everyone in this world. I pray that He gives the doctors wisdom as they help Ava on her journey and I pray that your family stays strong throughout this ordeal, you need all the love you can get right now. Good luck and God bless your family. You all will make it through this.
I live in Baltimore and I have a 4 1/2 month old baby girl. After I heard about this story, my heart broke and I cried. I cannot iimagne fathom the pain that the DelRicco family must be going through. Ava’s such a beautiful baby and so strong. What a fighter. She’s proof that babies are so much stronger than what people really think. Never underestimate the strength of a precious baby. I donated to the DelRicco fund, I hope that it helps. I pray that the Lord keeps all of the babies around the world safe, healthy, and strong. God Bless!
Sending tons and tons of prayers your way. God bless Ava and her pnraets Ann Marie and George. This story has touched my heart in a huge way. I have a son 5 months younger than Ava and I could not imagine going through something like this. My thoughts and prayers are with you each and every day. Miracles can happen. The power of prayer is an amazing thing. Praying for a full and speedy recovery.
Hazel thanks for your note. (LOVE The Sartorialist!!). All black is often the default colour because it’s the easier to unify (imagine an ensemble full of slightly different shades of red), it’s easy on the eyes, and the audience tends to focus more on the music than if the ensemble were wearing different colours. The problem with saying go for it, wear any colour is what one person considers stylish another will consider completely inappropriate. There there’s the issue of colour clashing. And in classical music, there are known stereotypes about what kind of dress is associated with certain types of music. Opera performers (and audiences) tend to go all out with style and flamboyance; Baroque performers (and audiences) tend not to consider fashion a big deal and are very low-key with their apparel. Ultimately, no, I don’t think ensembles should be able to wear any colour; then it looks like a rehearsal.
I’ve never posted a cmoment on a website before for a family I don’t even know, but I have read several news articles about this accident and found myself very moved by your situation. As a mother of two small ones myself, I just wanted you to know that your family, and especially little Ava, are in my thoughts and prayers. She is a beautiful little girl. Stay strong and hopeful there are many people, even strangers, praying for Ava and her recovery. God bless you, and God bless little Ava.
Once I received a call offering me a decent sum to turn for a pianist for a chamber music concert. I was pleased to finally get paid for something I’d been doing pro bono for years. I got there early and met with the pianist. He seemed high-strung but some people are before a concert. I clarified repeat issues with him and he assured me he was a clear nodder. The concert began and I soon saw why he was so high-strung; his mediocre technique and limited musicality made him a bad choice to play the well-known Beethoven and Brahms trios he was tackling (almost literally, football player style). We got towards the end of the first page and he did not nod. I figured, Maybe he likes memorize the beginning of the next page and have late turns. Nope as we reached the last two beats he abruptly turned his heard toward me and, in a low, gruff voice barked, Turn! This disagreeable ritual was repeated for most of the performance. I thought it might have been less disruptive for him and the audience to nod as he said. No such luck. I made it through and didn’t mess it up, but he really unnerved me and I dare say I was very deserving of my pay that evening.
I heard of Baby Ava through my stiser in law, a VT alumni, and I knew George in high school as well.Ava is in our family’s prayers daily. Ava, your guardian angels are right next to you at all times, holding your hand. You are very special and loved by so many! I am a Speech Pathologist and I know the work that lies ahead for rehabilitation. I know Ava’s therapists will work hard to help her recover. I would like to offer my support if you need any materials or advice to help in her speech/feeding recovery. God Bless your family!
Hi my name is Cheyenne. I am 7 years old. I saw a picture of baby Ava at Coco’s Funhouse when I went to a bthirday party. I just want you to know that I worry and think about her all the time. I know that you have a guardian angel with you. And i pray that you get better very soon. I pray for your mommy and daddy too. If i am allowed to and it is okay with your mommy and daddy i would love to send you a card and draw you a picture. Love, Cheyenne Chism from Bridgeville Delaware
Aww, love this. That sweater is fabulous (and so are you!). I have a sweater that’s quite faded and several sizes too big, but it’s gone through three generations of women in my family and although my mom keeps egging me to get rid of it I don’t think I’ll ever be able to.
Dear George and Ann Marie,I am praying for you both and you precious little daughter. I do not pretend to know what you are feeling right now. However, I would like to share a short story with you about my amazing daughter, Amanda, and the time I sat where you are sitting. My prayer is that you might find additional comfort and hope. My little baby girl was there at Johns Hopkins when she was around 18 months old. Amanda was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis. She was going to have to have reconstructive surgery to her skull. The way I understood it, they were going to saw her skull apart and put it back together so her brain would have room to grow. Just before surgery, Dr. Carson spoke with my wife and I reassuring us and told us not to worry, he did this type of surgery all the time. I think he told us surgery would take 5 hours. After 6 ½ hours I felt like climbing the walls. After 7 hours I felt like climbing out of my skin. Every feeling I had fought against my very nature as a father to be my daughterâs protector. For the first time in my life I experienced the feeling of complete helplessness and uncontrollable grief. I may have even felt some things that have not been defined or recognized as human feelings yet. Finally they came out and told us that surgery was over and everything went just fine. However, her eye lids were swollen closed and she couldnât see. Okâ¦so that did it for me. I had no idea what my daughter had just gone thru or if she was in any kind of pain, but now she couldnât see? This was just emotional overload for me. They told me that her swollen eye lids were only temporary but that didnât offer me much comfort. She would cry and cry. I remember holding her close and rocking her so she could feel safe and secure. I remember wanting more than anything to trade places with her. I wondered how much pain she was in and what she was thinking about. She was so little and so innocent. I couldnât wait to look into those little blue eyes again and say âdaddy loves you so muchâ. It didnât take very long for me to see those beautiful eyes again. And when I did, I saw hope. I was able to tell her âdaddy is here, and loves you so much; everything is going to be okâ.Amanda is 16 now and a junior in high school. She will be applying to Johns Hopkins later this year to study Neuroscience. Her goal is to become a pediatric neurosurgeon.I did sit where you are sitting 14 years ago. I know itâs difficult or even impossible to see past today or even tomorrow. But I do know this for sureâ¦.I believe in a God that LOVES little children, and the same God can do ANYTHING, so I will pray that God will continue to be with Ava and heal her, I will keep you both in prayer as well.Tony Roadarmel
I don’t know your family. As a matter of fact I had never heard your names until I came across Ava’s story from a friends post on FB. I live in Manistee, MI. Your family and Ava’s story have touched my heart deeply. I have four children of my own and cannot imagine what your family is going though. I have Prayed daily from the moment I seen your baby girls story. I also have seen the number of people that have reached out in Prayer and doing whatever else they are able to. Sometimes I think we forget just how fragile life is or can be until something completely out of our control happens. I couldnât possibly put into words how I feel about what happened to your daughter by the ignorance of someoneâs judgment. I wonât even try because there is nothing to gain by hatred toward someone else. Youâre daughterâs story has renewed my faith in God and others. The outpouring of Love and Prayerâs has reminded me that with God all things are possible. I have read what the doctorâs have told you to expect for Ava in update posts, and then I also read what is actually going on. I know sometimes in order to get where we want to be that we sometimes have to take a step back to get there. I also believe that God is the ultimate healer and he is working through the doctors and nurses taking care of Ava. She is already a miracle in my eyes and seeing how far she has come already is amazing. I have no doubt that Ava will make a complete recovery. Matthew 18:19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on Earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” Lord I ask that you continue to wrap your healing hands around Ava and heal her completely inside and out. Lord I also ask that you give Avaâs family the strength they need to endure all the pain they have infront of them. I ask this in Jesus name, AMEN!
My heart is so heavy for your beautiful family after watching Avaâs story. I cannot imagine the strength it must take for all of you, even Sage to get up every day. The Lord is watching over you and he is holding Avaâs hand right now. I am brought to tears as I sit here a mother myself and contemplate your pain. When our children hurt all we want to do is rush to their side and fix what is wrong. Whether itâs peroxide and a band aid or their vaccinations at the Dr. The pain we feel as parents when we canât fix what is broken is the worst of kind of pain. I pray for you to have the strength for Ava and one another as such a tragedy has impacted you. I pray for you to have strength for Sage and to be able to continue being the best parents you can to her during this difficult time. I pray that the Lord lay his mighty hand on top of that angel you have and may his amazing power and love penetrate through all of her earthly wounds and may she not only rise but may she walk, skip, run and conquer over the evil and show this world that miracles do exist. May God bless you abundantly and may every person who seeâs your story be moved. In our Fatherâs name, Amen.
As I have read through all of your upetads, I must say God is good ALL the time. Baby Ava’s story has touched me in ways one could not imagine. I have learned that everyday is a gift and I should be thankful fo rwhat is given. Sometimes in life we all fall short of the things we do have bc of what we feel we dont have. I am so thrilled and uplifted to hear that Ava is on her way to making a remarkable recovery. In her most recent photos, she looks amazingly well. Prayers to you all each and everyday. Good luck and God bless.
the minister). So much could be said about the “regulation” and encroachment of state-authority in the sacred trust of religious marriage; but to condense my opinion, current Family Law has diluted marriage from a once-contract to a relationship-of-convenience–the consequences and costs beyond the present generation and beyond quantifiable or measurable terms. Consider that after decades of rising divorce–in conjunction with the entry of no-fault divorce–the subsequent effects include diminishing marriage per capita (more couples simply living together) and increased illegitmacy in the demographic of post-teen pregnancy. The upshot: generations have lost hope in marriage! Let me add one more measure however; that is, the subsidizing of divorce (by the Federal gov’t) through Social Security (Part IV)–where states receive funds for child support collections. These laws or policy do indeed subsidize divorce by imputing a means of taxation (or state revenue) on one of two parents; the one who is not awarded his children–as part of the marital property–is left with obligation (punishable by law) to finance the children he has lost…for no justified reason. What the state has done to marriage is unconscionable; and why the religious communities do not discharge civil marriage, in view of a sacrament called marriage, is beyond my understanding. As it stands, marriage is somewhat like the politician who tries to be all things to all people…and ends-up being nothing to no one.
Dear Lord,Please help this little angel heal and recover so she can be back in her momma’s arms soon. She has so much life left to live, Lord, and we are begging You to help her heal quickly. Lord, it is in Your capable hands.Ava’s family,Words cannot express the sorrow that you are enduring right now. Words alone cannot tell people the pain you are going through. We cannot even begin to imagine the anxiety, hurt, anger, pain, sadness, and feelings of doubt that you are having. Trust in God and know that He will pull Ava through this.Ava,Sweet baby girl. Our hearts hurt for you. You are loved by so many but known by so few. We only know of your story, and we have seen your baby pictures, yet we care about you so much and love you even though we have never met you, and probably never will. Get better soon, sweet girl.Deuteronomy 31:8The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Dear Ava,I don’t know you in person but my spirit been touched by you. You are a beautiful little girl who has such a long, great life ahead of you. You have the face of an Angel and your most certainly a true gift from God. I live near the location where you were hit in your Mommys car and your beautiful little soul has touched many of our hearts in the community.Keep holding on Ava, with all of the strength you have and when your ready to take on the world, open those pretty eyes and give your Mommy and Daddy that beautiful smile that they’ve been longing to see. God is not done working His miracles just yet but when He is, you will be healthier than ever as we all claim both internal and external healing in the name of Jesus from the top of your head, to the souls of your feet by the Stripes of Jesus and we declare in Jesus name for you to rise up baby girl and open them gorgeous eyes. In the name of Jesus we thank you Lord for Ava’s miracle to be manifested now, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN<3
