OUT FRONT AND FIGHTING CANCER
It’s not easy being Robin Roberts these days and today must have been one of the toughest.
In April she announced from her anchor spot on “Good Morning America” that she was diagnosed with MDS, a serious blood disease that can be considered a late effect of an earlier cancer treatment. Robin was treated for breast cancer back in 2007.
So this morning, she left the show an hour early, saying she wasn’t feeling too well. She added that she’ll be taking a few weeks off. She called it “vaca.”
My guess is it will be anything but “vaca” or vacation. Treatment for her blood disease is harsh. The chemo is tough business and it could be that her body needs some rest. It’s an adrenaline rush to anchor a major morning TV show every day and she needs every drop to push through this treatment.
Time to put the TV part of her life on hold.
Time to fight the fight….again.

Feeling connected to Robin due to our similar breast cancer & blood cancer “paths”, I agree that this is sad. I also feel that Robin is setting an example by “taking care of #1”. As Laurie said – conserve the adrenaline. I admire Robin’s strength and resolve. She’s got my strength and best wishes.

That is a hard situation. My thoughts are going out to her, and hoping the time away helps her cope with this process. It’s not easy, that’s for sure.

My prayers go out to Robin…she is a brave woman and I suspect she will need every ounce of bravery and strength she can muster.
