“You have cancer.”
Those were the words my friend heard today.
She is stunned; totally stunned. When the doctor read her mammogram and told her there was something there that needed a biopsy, she paid attention, but never really thought it would turn out to be cancer. She was calm and made the appointment and then went on vacation. She never expected to hear those words.
So her world, her busy, productive world has come to a screeching halt. There are skid marks leading up to her office. She will go to work now learning about her specific cancer. What type it is, has it moved from her breast to other parts of her body, is surgery in her future? Will she face chemo and radiation?
Will she live?
I’ll be there for support but I’m afraid for her because I know what she is facing.
I know she’s afraid too. You’re never prepared for those words…never.
