Always One More…
We’re left with our hopes for the least invasive procedures….maybe just a short round of chemo….just a little radiation, but it still comes down to another victim on the cancer roster.
Those of us who know what the journey is like, get that knot in our stomachs when we hear of a friend who has taken step-one on the path. It’s never an easy path.
I felt the same way you all felt; more treatment concerns, more life concerns.
I want to scream “It’s just not right.” “Do something to stop this disease.”
And for the one we’ve just heard about, there are many, many more.
Always, one more.

Each year as I struggle raise money for cancer support and research, I am amazed at how many folks think it will not happen to them. At how well the belief cloaks them, not me, why I am a good person, it will get that other who’s a bad person. Then wham, they are sucked into the ‘crazy world’ and if their lucky, they too get to survive and try to convince others, that yes indeed it is ‘beast’ of a disease, and won’t you please help?
Yes unfortunately there is always another to join and swell the cancer ranks. It is not fair, it is not right, and I do wish there was a way to stop it.

Someone I really admire is very ill with cancer. It may be a case of failing to share the initial diagnosis with the patient, in 2008. The person was the picture of health when I last saw her, but apparently cancer was silently busy, wrecking the lining of her stomach. Yes, as each day passes, there just seem to be more and more.

Sadly, each day adds hundreds if not thousands to the cancer rolls across the country. Can it be this hard to find a cure or some cures for some types of cancer? The answer is YES. Occasionally something does work and a remission seems to become permanent ( I said seems because we all know that nothing is certain when cancer is the culprit). Once you’ve encountered “the beast” and fought it to where NED has taken up residence, you still listen each day for the sound of the other shoe dropping. It still exacts its toll even during the good times.
