It was a sentimental good-bye to my friend Louise today. Her loving family, from the very youngest great grandchild to the man she spent her life with….two days shy of 62 years…all there to remember and cherish her time with us.
But it was the message on the back of the printed program that I need to share with all of you today. I don’t know who wrote this, but I do know these words came from a heart that was touched by cancer. A heart that learned about love and caring, through cancer ..has to be.
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around you
And whispered “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn’t make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
To the author of these strong, sensitive words, I say from this community, “Well done.”
