Al, this one’s for you…
Dear Al,
I can’t imagine what you’re going through…well, I can actually and I guess that’s why I’m writing this to you today.
I just want you to know that we are all thinking of you and sending our prayers to the Cato family because this is the hard part of the journey. There are bumps in all our lives, but when it gets down to this turn in the road, peace and understanding are two of the most important emotions we can send your way.
You have been a part of this family for a very long time and you’ve had so many words, sentences, paragraphs and pages of wisdom for all of us when we’ve needed it. Ths is our time to send them all back to you with an extra arm full of love.
Like cancer, COPD can be treated, but there is no magic pill to cure it. And like cancer, researchers are working on finding a way to stop it from advancing so rapidly, but it’s still work taking place under the microscope.
So this is where your strong grip on your spirituality comes in..Your beliefs will give you strength…and this community is here for any back-up.
You and your wife are in our thoughts…..

I am so blessed to know that all of you are here for us. I have learned so much about caregiving from you all and it is now being used. I Thank You!!!
As you know, some days are good and things seem to be improving and then there are other days that are not so good. The ups and downs, twists and turns, happiness and sadness, hope and despair……they are all a part of this journey.
I am a fan of gospel music. So many songs speak to me during the good times and the not-so-good-ones. One that touches my heart is “It Won’t Rain Always” sung by Janet Paschal. I go to YouTube and listen so that I am reminded of what is truly important.
Thank you Laurie for your post. I still draw upon the Big Guy’s spirit when the times are tough. He and now you have shown us all grace under very difficult circumstances. God bless you all for thinking and praying for us.

Offering my prayers, Al. I will keep you in my thoughts and send love to you and your family.
“. . . what I am afraid of comes.
“I live for a while in its sight.
“What I fear in it leaves it,
“and the fear of it leaves me.
“It sings, and I hear its song. . . .”
~ Wendell Berry
Listen: “. . . As we sing, / the day turns, the trees move.”
