The Gift of Life
Jim Kelly, the Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback has been diagnosed with cancer in his upper jaw bone. He will have surgery on Friday.
His social media accounts have been upbeat and he says he is “extremely confident in my road to recovery.”
Most, if not all the people I’ve known who have gotten a diagnosis of cancer have talked about their confidence and their plan to beat the beast. They say they are prepared for the fight of their life. And I think they really mean it too.
So what is it that separates certain cancer patients from others? I have one patient, or should I call him a “survivor” in mind. This young man has gone through the rigors of cancer hell. He’s had surgeries, many chemo treatments, set-backs and now he’s N-E-D. He has been weakened by his cancer, but his resolve has not been shaken.
He challenges his cancer to come and get him…truly…it’s him against it.
He tells me he’s never asked “why me” and when he heard the words ‘You have caner” he went into attack mode and has never looked back.
He believes with all his heart he will live on his terms for as many years he’s given….cancer or no cancer. It will be up to him to make the rules, not some disease that may or may not return to haunt his colon or liver or lungs.
There are not many cancer patients like him, but many could take a lesson from my friend. He is an example of what it is to have and understand a gift we have all been given…. the gift of life.

Like his attitude plus his realism. We can only do the very best we can in the fight against cancer. We can only hope and pray that the chemo, radiation and surgeries will be enough. But as we all know, sometimes, no…many times, the fighting spirit along with the best pharmaceuticals and doctors are just not enough. And so many good people die from this disease. Why is it that some of us survive beyond all expectations? It is a rhetorical question ’cause there is no answer.
I choose, like your friend, to fight as hard as I can, endure most any pain and suffering until that one day when it is apparent to me that my time is drawing near. I’ll accept my fate because I’ve been blessed beyond reason to have lived this long. I hope that your friend can look back upon his life many years from now and give Thanks for his many blessings, that he endured and that he looked cancer in the eye and didn’t blink. Wishing him all the best.

cancer is just a abraomnl reproduction of your cells .your cells reproduce normally all the time .sometimes something happens that causes the cells to reproduce at abraomnlly high rates = cancer any and everything can cause cancer ..its practically natural .do you see what im saying, there will never be a definitive list of things that cause cancer .you may be able to tell for sure some things do .but plenty of normal things cause cancer ..my personal theory is that the more generations your family has spent in a heavily industrialized place the more likely you are to get cancer .for ex .if you were born and bred in the mounts of greece along with your parents, grandparents, etc you prob wont be a cancer candidate .now if its new york city, your prob a cancer candidate no real way to know though ..any and everyone can develop it Was this answer helpful?

I have to show my thanks to this wrtier just for rescuing me from this particular predicament. As a result of surfing throughout the internet and meeting principles which were not helpful, I was thinking my life was gone. Being alive without the presence of solutions to the difficulties you’ve solved as a result of the post is a crucial case, as well as ones that could have adversely affected my entire career if I hadn’t discovered your web site. Your competence and kindness in touching all areas was vital. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I hadn’t discovered such a thing like this. I’m able to now look ahead to my future. Thanks for your time very much for this impressive and effective guide. I won’t hesitate to refer the website to any individual who should receive direction on this matter.
