There is nothing like spending the day with the ocean by your side.
It’s a magical place for me….I do find a kind of peacefulness in the rhythm of the waves, the cushion of the sand and the salt air is like a blanket warmed by the sun. The beach has always been my place.
Now, that Leroy is a part of the Pacific, I guess it pulls me closer still.
I look out over the rocks, over the waves and watch the gentle swells lined-up waiting for their turn to come rolling into the beach.
I say the same things to him each day I’m down there but that’s OK….these are important words.
Ocean therapy….the best kind of “lifting” there is.

The ocean is so deeply healing. Maybe it the hugeness or the waves or how it doesn’t seem to end. Whatever it’s magic, it is certainly a wonderful place to recenter.

Today I would like to use this space to lift up thoughts of Seth Dorrell, of Mission Waco, who died Sunday, of a heart attack while on a mission trip to Mexico. He was only 32 and had battled colorectal cancer for two years. According to the obituary, the heart attack was a result of the cancer treatment. Another reminder that life is so fragile.

Nan,
I’m so sorry about your friend Seth.
No more fighting cancer…he is resting in peace.

My husband and I lived on Cape Cod for 15 years. I know the ocean’s calming rhythms. Someday I will return.
