Time to sparkle
They are a part of the season that makes the world brighter.
They come in red, blue, green, white and they give the houses and trees and shrubs a special sparkle.
Holiday lights put fresh faces on neighborhoods.
As I take my walks around the “hood” in the early morning, or late afternoon, when the Winter sun barely stretches its rays around us, the lights add so much more to the scene.
So many Christmas trees peek through living room windows too. They reflect decades of family traditions. Some are covered in all white, twinkling lights, others are multi-colored with tinsel and ornaments that are sure to be family heirlooms. Traditions, especially this time of year, make the Holidays so special to each one of us.
They tell so many stories of Christmas past and present. Family albums of holidays spent with loved ones.
For some, the season is not without struggle. This community knows about struggle and we offer up the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Lessons that will help lift the weight off your shoulders and allow the days ahead to be cherished and remembered.
Use the lights to show you the way….they sparkle with hope for seasons to come.

My brother-in-law passed away suddenly this past April. It was quite a shock to the family- he was the beloved uncle and second father to many nieces and nephews. Going through his things we found letters that he had saved. One was a letter my father-in-law wrote at the passing of their oldest daughter (cancer at age 43). He wrote that the impact one’s life has is like the effect of throwing a brick into a lake. After the brick, which was very real, disappears, the ripples can be seen long after. That reminded me of LeRoy an his effect on this community. Thank you for keeping this going Laurie.
On another note, little Wilson made it home from the hospital before Christmas. They were released over a week ago- an early Christmas gift.

This is a season when we especially appreciate miracles and hope for even more in the new year.

As Mo writes about her friend, let us not forget that there are so many suffering and filled with despair during this season of HOPE. Lift our prayers for care, comfort and healing not only for the patient but for the caregiver, family and friends.
Saw on local news…..family driving down the road and spotted a discarded little tree that could be someone’s Christmas tree. The boy asked if they could stop. So they did. He stuck the tree into the ground and placed a single ornament on it, sorta like Charlie Brown. As the days passed and they went by the little tree, it was filled with ornaments, tinsel and bows. The spirit of Christmas does live as signified by the little, discarded tree now adorned with all of the trimmings!!!

Laurie, I pray you find peace in the memories you will have again this Holiday season… In them you will find the Hope of a better tomorrow! Love, hugs and always lifting!

Beautifully expressed, Laurie. May light and hope always be our guides.
I offer prayers for all, especially my friend, the painter T., who has brain cancer. Her exhausted husband posted this morning that she began seizing uncontrollably yesterday and is in the hospital. The other day he said he no longer knows what to pray for but that he has to believe prayers will be heard.
