A tribute
He knew his craft well.
You probably didn’t know him, but you knew his work.
He made CBS News better. He had a role in making “60 Minutes” great. Before he took his talents to that broadcast, he covered breaking news.
He was a hard news guy in every sense of the word and he made his team strong. He had stops in CBS bureaus around the country, covering everything from politics to hurricanes. He left his mark as a senior producer, guiding the CBS “Early Show” too.
Clem Taylor died today of pancreas cancer. He was 60 years old.
His battle lasted less than a year after diagnosis. There are many journalists scattered around the world tonight to have said a silent prayer for this man to rest in peace.
I remember him as a terrific producer, but even more importantly, a wonderful guy.

Sorry that my post isn’t pertinent to Laurie’s blog.
My wife died last Tuesday after a long fight with COPD/emphysema. Her memorial service was Sunday, her birthday. It was a beautiful day. We were surrounded by love….family, friends and especially God’s. As her caregiver, I am now lost. Grief, sadness and pain are my constant companions. One day I’ll be back here. You all know all too well the emotions I have. I am now walking in your shoes. For now, my compass won’t stop spinning so I’ll go away for awhile and let the pain and sadness lessen. Until then good friends….

My dearest Al,
My heart is so full of sadness for you right now. You have been a rock to so many of us and I can only send you my thoughts, my prayers and my love. I don’t have any words that will help you through this, I can only offer what you have given me, kind words, support and my friendship.
I pray you will find the strength to guide you through this and I hope you can find the little light that you sent me so many years ago, to guide you on your journey. You are a friend to so many of us here, and we will “lift” you any time you need it.
Hugs my friend…I pray you find that little light that will guide you. Laurie
