We stumbled upon it just in time to serve it at our wedding.

It made the day sweeter because the day was a difficult one for Leroy, his cancer was playing tricks on his back.

The champagne helped that later.

Duval Leroy…a wonderful French champagne that became our “go-to” bubbly for the short time we had left together.

Living in Maryland with Blue laws that reach back to moonshine days, it’s very hard to find certain labels: Duval Leroy is one of those labels.

So, when I saw it the other day I reached for the one bottle left on the shelf.  Clearly there are other fans of this champagne.  I can’t imagine it’s because of the “Leroy” connection.

But for me, it’s a given.

So here we are, at the brink of a new year and what better bottle to place on it’s side to chill for tomorrow night than my “Duval Leroy?”

The experts say champagne is best served cold, but it shouldn’t be left in the refrigerator for more than 6 to 8 hours to chill before serving.

All those tiny bubbles: every one filled with a delightful memory.
